Blogging Isn't Dead...
It Just Moved To A Different Town!
I saw a post on Facebook today that asked if blogging was dead.
One guy I know answered saying that it was.
Before 2008, he used to make over $2,000 each week from a blog about football (soccer) with free traffic that would come from Google.
Those were the glory days of blogging.
Google would send thousands of people to websites based on keywords and search terms.
If you could land on the first page of Google for a specific keyword or phrase you could enjoy a lot of free traffic to your website, and if you were selling products or promoting affiliate products you could make a lot of money.
Today, that is unlikely to happen.
If you go to Google and search for some specific information you are now shown the information via their AI Overview tool.
There are websites listed to the right and below their AI Overview content, but when they give you the answer you are looking for, why would you go and visit a website?
Unless you want to do a deeper dive into the topic, Google gives you everything you need to know and so there is no need to go looking at websites.
People visiting websites through Google has dropped dramatically.
This is why people say blogging has died, but it hasn’t… it has just changed location.
If The People Won’t Come To You… Go To Where They Are, Instead!
To make money blogging you have to go where the people are, and that means that you post to social media and article platforms such as Medium and Substack.
The reason you need to go there is because these platforms are designed where people can go and access a whole lot of content from a whole lot of people.
Substack, Facebook, Medium, they all have a mobile app and people can open up accounts and so instead of them going to multiple different blogs, they can access multiple bloggers in their feed.
People can access multiple articles from one place and it makes it a lot easier for readers to consume content.
Some subjects are more popular than others, but there is always room for all kinds of content on these platforms.
If there is a lack of readers on these platforms, share your content on social media and find new readers that way.
People are making good money using these platforms because they are publishing content people want to read and within those articles they are promoting their own products and services as well as affiliate products.
The articles published to these platforms are the entry to their sales funnels like my 3-97 Funnel.

Some people are making a decent amount of money with subscription fees via Substack.
There are several who are making five figures each month.
So, where one guy was making $8,000 per month in 2008 in affiliate commissions via his self-hosted blog writing about football, today people are making $8,000+ per month on Substack through subscription fees and product sales.
So, as you can see…
Blogging isn’t dead, it just moved to a different town!
