The Powerful Secret Advertising Method Called…Charity
Should You Grow Your Business Doing Charitable Work?
I am going to share with you a powerful yet secret method of growing a business that is largely ignored, yet it stares us in the face.
I’m talking about charity!
Giving money to charity or doing charitable work can really help to grow a business or personal brand.
When someone regularly gives to a charitable cause, whether they give their time or their money, they are seen as a good wholesome person who is not greedy and selfish.
People who are kind, generous, and selfless are revered in society.
Those who give to charities and do charitable work are always perceived as good people… even when they are not.
A certain Jimmy Savile springs to mind here.
Giving to charity in secret is good, but telling people about your charity work is good for business.
Aligning yourself with a good cause and being vocal about it can do wonders for the charity… and you!
Do Good Deeds And Get Thanked Publicly!
Those who do charity work often get the attention of the press. They are talked about on social media… and this is good for business, it is FREE advertising.
And as we know, people like to buy from people they KNOW, LIKE, and TRUST.
This report is not meant to teach you to selfishly and unethically use a charity for your own gains… but using a charity does just that… it can catapult you to success.
A great example of that is SophieTeaArt, the artist who started going around charity shops (thrift shops which sell stuff to raise funds for charities), buying items, painting on them, donating them back to the charity shop she buys them from, and then posts pictures and videos of them on Instagram telling people where they can find them.
People rush to the charity shops to buy her modified items.
Sophie’s popularity has exploded since doing this.
The last time I looked, Sophie had 1.3 million followers on TikTok and 1 million on Instagram. She also uses Facebook, Pinterest, and YouTube.
I don’t know if she is still doing it, but in 2024 she did a tour of charity shops and people were rushing to meet her.
It’s good for the charity shops because they get paid twice for the same item, people who rush to see her or buy her modified items may purchase other stuff.
It’s good for her because people share her ‘feel-good’ social media posts and videos, her following grows, and her name becomes known by thousands of people.
She is now an online celebrity and if she hasn’t yet been interviewed by a newspaper or television news show, she will.
People love her art, they love her charity shop challenge, and they love her personality, they love her for doing something good for charity…
And now they are buying her books and paintings.
Why is that?
Because they Know, Like and Trust her… I mean, who doesn’t trust a charitable person?
I mean, it’s not like she is trying to charge several hundred dollars for just a PDF, is she?

Doing stuff for charity is good for both parties.
Last year (2025), Sophie painted 4 paintings which she priced at £18,000 each ($24,650 ATOW).
She then had 25 prints made of each painting and as the image below shows, when the screenshot was taken two sets had totally sold out… not bad at £3,000 each! ($4,110 ATOW)
I don’t know how many of the other prints she has sold, but she has generated at least £150,000 ($205,410 ATOW) from those 50 she has sold out.
I haven’t included sales of her other art and prints, either.
That is a six-figure-a-year income with her art!
Use Charity To Get Your Name Out In Front Of People!
People or companies that do charitable work are often ‘thanked’ in newspapers and marketing materials.
Businesses often run events for charities because they know that they can help raise a lot of money and awareness… plus they know that they can raise awareness of their brand, too.
Some people may be cynical about the reasons some people and businesses help charities, and occasionally they may be right to be cynical, it is something that can easily be abused…but it is still good because charities benefit from the extra money or awareness raised.
The ROI on charity work could potentially be far greater than running paid advertising.
Again, I am not saying that you should align yourself with a charity to simply ‘put your name out there’… but it works, and it works quite fast.
It works in the same way people sponsor sporting events or festivals. A company’s name is pushed to the forefront and mentioned several times.
In my home town in Lincolnshire, here in the UK, a boxer opened up a gym to give the local youngsters something more productive to do than hanging about on street corners and being a general nuisance.
I don’t know if he decided to do local charity work as a way to get the word out about his boxing gym, but as far as I know, he was a little-known newcomer to the area until he began helping people out.
He bought a new fridge for a family who couldn’t afford to buy a new one when theirs suddenly stopped working.
He did numerous charitable acts which were talked about in local Facebook groups.
People began talking about him and publicly thanked him for what he had done for them.
He soon became known as the nice guy with the boxing gym.
His boxing gym became the place to go for all the local teens.
I cannot say for definite whether he planned his rising-through-the-local-ranks by doing charitable work or whether he was just a genuinely nice chap who liked to help people.
Either or, his charitable work helped fill his gym.
Doing Good Deeds Was A Druglord’s Protection!
Probably the best example of this is the story of the notorious druglord, Pablo Escobar.
He was protected from the police by the locals who he helped by building them the community the government failed to give them.
Escobar built hospitals, a football stadium, a sanitation system, and 1,000 homes for families in poverty. He even sponsored local football teams.
He was so popular with Colombians; they voted him into Congress in 1982.
His elected position was short-lived; two years later he was forced to resign after a successful campaign exposed his criminal activities.
The guy had caused untold amounts of social damage and death across the globe, but the locals loved him because he was a ‘charitable person’ who helped them.
They couldn’t see what was going on behind the scenes; they could only see what was happening in front of them… which was good charitable work.
Those who did know, they kept their heads down and enjoyed the good.
It’s the exact same story with Jimmy Savile.
I needed to use those two people as examples to show how being charitable can turn you into a beloved upstanding member of society… no matter how monstrous you are in the shadows.
Obviously… and hopefully… you are not like them and will not use charitable work as a front to hide behind.
But, if you are growing a business or an online following, you should seriously consider it.
It’s good for you, and even if you are simply doing it to be noticed… it is still good for the charity.
The boxer who bought the fridge to help the family didn’t have to do it, he chose to do it.
If it was part of a ‘backdoor’ marketing campaign, a struggling family still recieved a brand new fridge which helped to make their day-to-day lives more comfortable.
It really is the ultimate ‘feel-good’ win-win method of self-marketing.
I’m thinking of doing a deep dive video where I talk more about this subject, and if that interests you, the video will be posted in my community shortly.
